The atmosphere in Islamabad was strange from dawn yesterday. This is a city where law, institutions, and decisions are seated on the highest pulpit of power, but in the darkness of night, in one of its neighborhoods, the most ancient symbol of faith, the Madani Mosque, was razed to the ground. The bricks that bore the touch of thousands of prostrations, the arches where the recitation of the Quran echoed, and the pulpit from where messages of love, patience, and unity were delivered—all were silently brought down. When the locals woke up in the morning, instead of the mosque, they found the site leveled and plants laid out—as if the memory of faith was hidden behind green leaves. But these leaves didn't carry the fragrance of the mosque; instead, they held the freshness of a wound. This wasn't an ordinary building; it was a testament to the legacy of Siddiq and Farooq, a place where worshippers poured their sorrows in prostration, and students absorbed the light of knowledge. The administration might have justified its decision on paper, but in the annals of history, this is a stain that will be visible for generations. We acknowledge that law is necessary in its place, but when justice's light is lost from its sight, decisions turn into oppression. The martyrdom of Madani Mosque isn't just the demolition of bricks and mortar; it's equivalent to creating a rift in the spiritual structure of a nation. It's unfortunate that all this happened under the cover of night, when tongues were asleep and eyes were in dreams. The hands that should have risen to protect the sanctuaries were the ones that brought them down. This is a wound that time won't heal because it's not a wound of earth but of faith. We strongly condemn this act and demand that Madani Mosque be rebuilt at the same site, and those responsible for this crime be brought to justice. Sanctuaries are symbols of a state's identity and peace. A nation that can't protect the sanctity of its mosques loses its identity and dignity. Today, the bricks of Madani Mosque are silent, but the prostrations performed on them cry out for their right—the fragrance of faith can't be buried in the earth.
